Frosty 11

Fugu is Mehdi Zannad from Nancy, France. While he was studying in UK, he sent us a demo. We liked it very much, got him to come down to stay with us and recorded a couple of songs. That was his first time in a recording studio - only that it didn't show. I can say that was most interesting experience for us too, witnessing his extraordinary talent.

On this record at the beginning of the song Fugu 7, you can hear the brats from Wellbrow Road, which was home to our first Sugarfrost HQ in Liverpool. We had a lively bunch always swarming around at our end of the road, so we held a DAT recorder out of our bedroom to record them. Good job they didn't spot us! And we ourselves (and Graeme Elston, I think he was there) also joined the recording with the hand-claps. We went around recording noises at Albert Dock, too.  Never been involved with the actual recording in that way, so that was an exciting day! 

Mehdi's done us a good story, read it here, highly recommended. He's one of the only three artists on Sugarfrost list who are still musically active, along with B-flower and Graeme Elston. Last time I got in touch, he was in LA recording with April March. Wow.
